1^st – 2^nd May 2010

On the Saturday morning, In-sun Tribe, Isobel Coombs and Uncle Marshall drove up to Oxford to introduce WAIT and start training six teenage girls who had signed up to attend a two-day training. The next day, Miwa Shaw and Jude Greaves joined the team to support a bigger group that had gathered to teach the Rose Dance and Break Dance respectively.

The first day began with an ice-breaker led by In-sun. That was followed by an introduction to WAIT by Uncle Marshall, In-sun and Isobel, which included the meaning of WAIT, benefits of joining, and the rules. After lunch, the girls then learned the Respect song and part of the Rose Dance.

The next day, we were joined by a church group who received a quick introduction to WAIT, and learnt what a ‘Full Performance’ is. Following lunch, Jude led everyone into a nice dance routine, after which time, the church group had to depart. The girls continued to train with Miwa and Isobel in order to make a presentation to their parents a little later. The two days ended with the girls doing an evaluation of the training.

The Oxford event was a real success despite taking place during examination time which prevented a number of WAIT members from taking part. Sincere thanks to Aunty Jennifer Toban (Oxford mum) for organising the two days, Aunty June Darby for preparing the lunches, and the WAIT trainers for coming up from London!
